Clean Up List

[edit]

This article has serious issues related to lack of citations and outdated info. Here's a list of items that need addressing, organized by Section and Subsection as appropriate. The goal is to prepare this article for eventual re-nomination as a Good Article.

Potentially rename "Lore" or other name that accurately describes this section. "Background" sounds like it's the backstory to the game's creation and development, not the backstory to the game's lore.

Multiple citations needed.

Might need to be cut down - this likely is a bit too much info on such a minor part of the game.

Server info needs updating (EX: Singularity is no longer open for public testing except during small, pre-announced windows intended for testing very specific features).

Add slightly more detail to Character Creation? Clarify that the race you choose has no affect on actual gameplay other than the system that you initially "spawn" in.

Clarify initial sentences: over 7800 player-accessible star systems, including 2500 randomly accessible wormhole systems. Remove the reference to what year it takes place - the inline cited source makes no mention of a year, and neither do any of the official Eve Online Lore articles.

Add citations for security status info - likely can reuse 33-35 from earlier in the paragraph.

Security status paragraph is long, but likely okay due to the real significance of a system's security status on gameplay decisions.

Add clarity and info to wormhole system explanation. They are given two sentences of information despite making up almost a full one-third of the accessible star systems in Eve.

Add citation for the (accurate) generalization that "Many of the game's most profitable income sources are found in dangerous null or low security systems" and the reasoning why.

There are no citations at all in this subsection. FIX!

Wormholes are another way for most ships to travel between star systems. Add this info.

Entire paragraph about POS Jump Bridges needs to be rewritten. POS Jump Bridges no longer exist - instead, a deployable structure called an Ansiblex Jump Gate can be deployed anywhere in space by the corporation that owns the system, and does not incur jump fatigue.

Upwell Citadel structures (of which an Ansiblex is one) are not explained anywhere in the article, and this would likely a good place to do so, as they are frequently the subjects of larger-scale combat engagements and/or mass travel operations (not to mention the fact that they are one of the most important pieces of corporation-owned nullsec systems and empires).

This subsection needs some more info. Mechanics of advancement are one of the most important pieces of an MMO - not only is this less info than most other subsections of the article, this doesn't adequately explain the actual skill training advancement mechanics.

Rewrite paragraph about multi-character training - this system was changed since then, and then changed again very recently.

As one of the most well-known elements of Eve Online, the economy deserves as much attention as it is currently given. However, it is quite lacking in citations. The Economy is closer to being the most important mechanic/process in Eve than almost anything else - if any section of the article should be written well, this section should be.

Add citations, rewrite as needed to reflect updated mechanics.

Either remove or elaborate on "and a few other actions" - totally ambiguous, contributes nothing.

My god. Ships are the core gameplay of Eve, and there are no citations for the ENTIRE section?? FIX! High priority

Clarify wording, update info to reflect new mechanics.

Citations!

Citations!!!

Add info to expand upon the different numbers and ratios of slots depending on ship class.

Add information to T1 and faction ships.

T3 Strategic Cruisers are not "rare" anymore - the Loki (Minmatar Strategic Cruiser) is the most used ship in the game for PvP (source).

(Not completed yet - will finish later today.)

Future developments:

[edit]

Vanguard has been around for a while now! It should be added to the "Planned Future Developments" section. Qianar (talk) 19:29, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I need a couple days to be able to edit, but that whole section needs massive clean up. The info on Dust is wildly outdated, as the info is from before it even launched. Will clean up Dust info and add Vanguard info. Alligator0323 (talk) 15:51, 4 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Future Developments

[edit]

The entire section is wildly outdated, being from 2011, and really needs to be updated Firestar587 (talk) 02:48, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I need a couple days to be able to edit, but that's one area I want to clean up quite a bit. Dust came and went a long time ago, and Vanguard should certainly be added. I'm debating whether or not EVE Frontier should also be added - although I'm leaning towards no, as I'm finding no evidence that it will directly affect the actual EVE Online game (unlike Vanguard and Dust, which do/did).
